Wendy Steenmans

I would like to introduce myself: I am Wendy Steenmans, born in Vilvoorde (Belgium) and living in Geldrop (The Netherlands). I work as a nursing assistant in homecare. My passion and hobby is photography and that’s what this website is all about. Please feel free to take a look around and most of all, enjoy!

I stumbled into this hobby through a good friend of mine, who is also a photographer. I had a lot of admiration for him back then because he made gorgeous concert pictures. I of course had the same aspiration and decided to go ahead and buy an SLR camera, and so the story begun…

It’s incredibly cool to be able to let your creativity run free, the sky is the limit! Of course there were the logical doubts along the way about whether I could do this, but I got a lot of support and an ass kicking here and there. In the meantime we have progressed ten years already and the hobby has taken a somewhat more professional turn. Right now I work as a photographer, reviewer and journalist for Rockportaal.nl, a website by and for music lovers alike. Working for them has opened quite a few doors for me and has given me many opportunities to photograph at festivals and in venues I could only dream about before. I am also one of the main photographers at the FemME festival. I have been able and allowed to make pictures of many bands, and a lot of them, as well as different media, have started to approach me for my work. Can you get a greater compliment?
